Roland was appointed Chief Executive Officer in February 2009 after 16 months as a non-executive director on the Company’s board of directors. He is also director of several European companies including Agfa-Gevaert NV. He was the former Chief Executive Officer of Arcelor Mittal. Prior to this role, he was a member of the group management board of Arcelor, Aceralia and Arbed. He graduated from the Federal Polytechnic in Zurich and has a Masters of Business Administration from Sacred Heart University of Luxembourg.
Heinz was appointed as Chief Financial Officer in August 2007. Prior to Nyrstar, Heinz held various positions at Umicore; he joined Umicore in 2002 as Vice-President Business Group Controller, Automotive Catalysts, and became Vice-President Business Group Controller, Zinc Specialties, in 2006. Prior to joining Umicore, Heinz worked for Honeywell from 1987 until 2002, where he occupied several positions in Germany, Switzerland and the USA.
In his role as Chief Financial Officer, Heinz is responsible for business systems, business analysis, risk management, tax, treasury and accounting.
Russell was appointed as Director Human Resources and Safety in August 2007. In July 2010, Russell was appointed as Chief Human Resources, Safety & Environment Officer. Prior to Nyrstar, Russell worked for Zinifex, commencing in 1979. Russell has held various operational and HR roles across mining and smelting operations.
In his role as Chief Human Resources, Safety & Environment Officer, Russell is responsible for human resources, safety, environment, community relations and stakeholder engagement.
