Project Planner & Scheduler

The purpose of the role is to support Project controls with the development and scheduling of projects act from Concept, Feasibility, Development, Implementation and Close-out and includes the monitoring and reporting of progress to plan. This will be accomplished through facilitation of planning activities and the involvement with the Project team and contractors to identify the required tasks, activities, resources and logic to allow for the development of a resource levelled schedule.


  • Participate in weekly project planning and scheduling activities to gather relevant information to update project schedules.
  • Follow and report the status projects weekly and maintain a history of revisions and document changes made.
  • Participate in Risk Assessments and incorporate controls into project schedules.
  • Integrate multiple schedules into a Project Master Schedule (PMS).
  • Update Project Master Schedule (PMS) and perform variance analysis.
  • Develop and maintain summary level schedule reports including Gantt, milestone charts.
  • Evaluate project variance and make recommendations for improvement as well as key learnings.
  • Analysis of critical paths and constraints.

  • Analysis of potential change orders and its impacts on project schedule.
  • Gather and analysis of information to prepare reports project status reports.
  • On-site visits to review construction progress.
  • Review and analysis of contractors Progress /Earned Value reports.
  • Review and analysis of contractors’ monthly schedule updates.
  • Close involvement with the external parties to provide guidance on scheduling requirements.
  • Travel required supporting work in Smelter and Mines.
  • Documented scheduling standard, workflow and processes used for planning and scheduling projects.
  • Prepare formal presentation related to project status.


  • Clear understating of planning and scheduling fundamentals such CPM method.
  • forward/backward path calculations, floats etc.
  • Strong project planning and scheduling ability.
  • Knowledge of Engineering deliverables and sequence.
  • Knowledge of Construction tasks and sequence.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills and abilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to work independently and prioritize workload during peak periods.
  • Ability to perform Earned Value calculations/analysis for projects.
  • Ability to identify and implement actions without being continuously directed.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Lean Enterprise or Continuous Improvement background is a requirement.
  • Highly organized; capable of multitasking across multiple projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field 5 to 10 years' experience in a related role.
  • Highly demonstrated ability in conceptual and practical planning skills.
  • Advanced user of MS Excel. Good understating of MS PowerPoint, and Word.
  • High level of proficient in the use of MS Projects is a requirement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good communication – both in person and via technology Experience in SAP preferred.
