Regional Project Engineer (Australia)

Location: Hobart
Hours: Monday - Friday

You will be an integral member of our Asset Management Team and will project manage, lead and deliver the suite of capital projects accross Australia - at both the Nyrstar Port Pirie Smelter located in South Australia and at the Nyrstar Hobart Smelter.

Specifically you will be responsible to: 

  • Be able to project manage all five stages of the project management process from concept to close out.
  •  Focus on delivering projects with the aim to deliver good value for the organisation.
  •  Provide technical expertise to team members across a range of engineering projects. 
  • Liaise closely with Technical, Operations and Maintenance Stakeholders throughout all stages of project delivery. 
  • Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with peers and project owners. 
  • Ensure all work is completed according to schedule, quality and cost management standards. 
  • Your leadership abilities will be crucial to the ongoing advancement of Nyrstar’s desire to continuously improve safety performance across both sites.
  • Collaborate with consultants, suppliers and vendors to ensure services are provided within plan and specifications.

 About you: 

  • A relevant engineering degree and experience working within a similar operation or on complex engineering projects.
  •  Ability to achieve results in a demanding and challenging site and global environment.
  •  Ability to drive and implement change. 
  •  Demonstrate advanced communication skills.
  •  Change management – Understanding of change management process. 
  •  Excellent understanding of OH&S, environment, and quality Role Flexibility
  • Availability and willingness for interstate travel

 The role is based at the Nyrstar Hobart Zinc Smelter located within 6km of the Hobart CBD and reports to the Nyrstar Hobart Engineering and Projects Superintendent.

Responsibilities of the role include project managing a suite or capital projects at the Port Pirie smelter located in South Australia. 

Traveling to Port Pirie through various stages of the project will be a requirement of the role as will managing a project execution team on the ground at Port Pirie to facilitate project delivery. 

At various times there will be a requirement to manage projects at the Hobart site.
