Darin Cooper

General Manager Nyrstar PORT PIRIE

Darin Cooper is Nyrstar’s General Manager at Port Pirie and has over 35 years of experience in the base metals and mining industry in Australia and globally. He has previously worked in the UK, North America, Europe, and Asia across exploration, mining, and smelting.

Darin returned to Nyrstar in September 2025, having held leadership positions such as General Manager of Nyrstar Clarksville and head of Nyrstar’s global zinc operations amongst other roles between 2012 and 2019. His prior roles includes COO of Talvivaara (now Terrafame), COO of Chaarat Gold, and Director of Technology for Hindustan Zinc.

Darin holds a B.Eng degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne and an MBA from the Open Business School in the UK.
