Nyrstar Group invests over €14 million in new equipment at its Auby plant

The Nyrstar Group is at a positive turning point, which is also evident at its Auby site. The Group's owner, Trafigura, is investing in new equipment at Auby to make its manufacturing facilities safer, more durable and more robust.
"The new equipment represents an investment of more than €14 million. They have been designed and built on the basis of the best available technology.
These investments are designed to help maintain the current volume and quality of zinc and sulphuric acid production for which Nyrstar Auby is known worldwide, but also to increase production in the coming years. Amongst these investments is new gas cleaning system which is being implemented. This new system will significantly improve the ergonomics and working conditions of our employees while maintaining our long-term competitiveness" says Xavier Constant, Managing Director of Nyrstar Auby.
The new facilities will be operational between December 2020 and April 2021, followed by further phases of investment allowing for the renewal of other equipment between 2022 and 2024.
The global turnaround of the Nyrstar Group, which in Europe also has a presence in Belgium and the Netherlands, was initiated in 2019 by its new owner, the global commodities trader, Trafigura.
