Sustainability Reports

Our approach to sustainability reporting

The Nyrstar Way states that we will prevent harm, create value and be open and honest. We are therefore committed to being accountable to the key stakeholders that our business can impact on, or who can impact our business. We report our progress on sustainability issues at a Nyrstar Group level.

Our Group Sustainability Report includes performance of our wholly Nyrstar owned mine and smelter operating sites. We believe that these sites encompass the material and significant risks and impacts of Nyrstar’s operations. The specific operating sites included within the scope of the Sustainability Report are described in the front section of each year's report.

We use the Global Reporting Initiative’s Sustainability Reporting Guidelines, Version 3 (G3) as the framework for the content and quality of our Sustainability Report. We also provide our summary of the completeness of reporting against the G3 guidelines.

For relevant quantitative performance indicators, we endeavour to measure our performance where feasible, or otherwise use estimation methods that are in line with approaches used for regulatory or emission inventory reporting.

We seek independent external assurance for our alignment against the AA1000 Accountablity Principles of Inclusivity, Materiality and Responsiveness and selected performance data. The full external assurance provider's statement is included in the back of the relevant year's Sustainability Report.
